Frontside - Twilight Of The Gods (CD)

Twilight Of The Gods
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 19 October 2006, 5:17 PM

At last! After reviewing many Metalcore shitty albums, I came across Frontside! I am finally going to review a more than decent Metalcore release! From the start of this album, I knew that I was going to listen to something good! Fortunately, my senses proved to be right!
Frontside are a Death Metal/Metalcore band from Poland. They were formed in 1993 from the ashes of the bands Astek and Demon. While looking in their official website, I couldn't make some things clear but as I understood, they have released three MCD's and one full-length album, through Regain. This is their second album, this time via Dockyard 1.
So, this album is not what you could call a classic Metalcore album. It is full of Death Metal riffs and brutal vocals. These guys surely worship Morbid Angel! Great and inspired compositions that make you headbang until the album is over! The only thing they need to be more careful is their production. It is not a bad one, but I think it should be more clear and heavy. Anyway, Frontside are a band that raises its middle finger to all those US melodic Metalcore bands! Metal is a music genre that requires big balls and these guys seem to have balls big enough to blow your brains to the wall with 52 minutes full of aggressive music! Sharp edge guitars and a great rhythm section that fits like glove with Auman's voice! I just noticed something. Is Poland producing great Death Metal singers all the time or is it just my idea? There must be something in the water they are drinking!
Fans of extreme modern Metal you should definitely check this one out! It is not the album of the year or something like that for sure, but it is still a CD that is worth its money. Melody rules, you just have to know how to control it.
