Hailing from Greece and formed in 2009,
FULL HOUSE BREW CREW released another album after "
Bet it All," which was great for
METALLICA "Load/Re-Load" fans or just
Hetfield vocal enthusiasts. "
Me Against You" is a little different, not better not worse in my opinion. It has this Southern, whiskey filled jar of expressive riffs and Texa-ssuper powered vocals. The first songs are great and enjoyable. Featuring
Vagelis Karriz from
ROTTING CHRIST, this band sounds like a mission to have fun in studio rather than producing something original or well-defined.
Vagelis is the lead singer, lead guitar player and the main songwriter of the band. In 2009 he wrote 10 Heavy Groove songs influenced from bands like
PANTERA, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, GODSMACK & METALLICA, and In 2011 having
Spiros (bass) and
Sakis (drums) on his side they recorded and self-released their first full-length album called
"Bet It All." Being active all these years by touring and opening for some big bands and festivals in Greece.
I had a great time listening to it but as the tracks finished one by one i felt a little bored since they repeated the same formula. This album needs more surprises. It is well done it is entertaining, but it missed something. Live they must be hell of a band. the question isn't there.
"Bring The Chaos" , "Me Against You","No One's Safe" are great songs before it gets too much following the same road. In comparison to
"Bet It All," this is an odd album for the band. It’s still rocking, but the riffs, vocals, and general direction have changed quite a bit. Ditching the
Hetfield-like cleans and backing off on the bluesy, Southern vibes, the band chose to inject diversity into their brand of dive-bar rock/metal with sappy ballads and big, melodic choruses. Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy
"Me Against You" as much as the debut, which I still don’t fully love.
This is another album possessed by
ZACK WYLDE, and
WYLDE is too much for me, even if i respect him as a musician. If you want another southern sounding, USA proud-sound and don’t care about originality as much as soon as it rocks, this one’s for you. It's perfect to have a ride with "MaryJane" in your pick up with your 12 gauge in hand and the steering wheel in the other. I don't know, even if it's great musicians we have here, I can't get rid of the idea of seeing Greek guys trying to be Americans. That doesn't fit for me.Sorry!!!
PANTERA, maybe
DOWN fans will find meat on that bone.
