Long time no see. The Greek Metal scene has been slightly less productive than what it was 1-2 years ago. I remember getting releases from Greek Metal bands almost every week. Anyway, let's see what FUROR are able to do.
The Greek metallers were formed in 2001. Since then they have managed to take part in a compilation released by Wipeout Records with their song Payback, release their debut album God Can't Judge Us (2006) through Aldigron Music Productions and also release a promo CD in 2007 entitled The God You Need.
Their new album was recorded at M.I. Studio in Athens and I can say that Leonidas Petropoulos and Lambros Kritsimas have done a really good job on the recording and mixing of Those Chords Made Chaos…. Many of you that don't know FUROR will be wondering about the kind of music they play. The Athenian metallers play this modern style of Metal that can be somehow described as Metalcore (although it is not exactly it). FUROR pay more attention to their Hardcore influences offering some really nice beatdown moments, as well as some frenzy melodic guitar leads, but what more can such a band offer to a metalhead?
Even though these guys are really good and I had a nice time while listening to the album I couldn't find something unique that would make FUROR something more than just a good Metalcore band. They have worked hard on this release and I suppose that if they were on a label like Lifeforce, Metal Blade or a more known label that could support this kind of music they would surely be on many magazines, but as I have said many times in the past Metalcore (with an emphasis on core) is not my style of music. Either you play Metal or you play Hardcore (either Metalcore that does not resemble to the half of today's Metal scene). If you are into this kind of music you will definitely fall in love with FUROR. It is just such music is not my cup of tea…
The album also features guest appearances by Vaggelis (AUDIOBLAST, ex-CODE OF SILENCE), Kostas (DEAR DARKSTAR) and Leonidas Petropoulos. You can also find a video clip for the song Same.In.Sane attached to the CD.
