General Chaos - Calamity Circus

General Chaos
Calamity Circus
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 18 November 2010, 1:11 PM

The very first thing that impressed me regarding this promo CD is that the German label Cyclone Empire Records took special care of it and presents it in a kind of different way than the rest of its releases. The A4 photocopy that is in every promo is different this time, and it is being presented like the front cover of a newspaper, something that probably wants to create a concept around the band.

Anyway, the German metallers caught us by surprise with their debut album “Calamity Circus”, since they appear out of the blue without any previous releases or something. With a line up that surely has something to say (members from bands like DEW-SCENTED and THE OCEAN) and an album full of heavy as fuck tunes, GENERAL CHAOS surely seem like a lethal weapon in the hands of Cyclone Empire. The quintet presents an album influenced by the groovy filth of Swedish Death Metal (ENTOMBED), the US groovy Death Metal sound (OBITUARY), the PANTERA style catchy breaks and MOTORHEAD’s all time classic dirty Rock & Roll. GENERAL CHAOS actually serve you with a modern Death ‘n’ Roll album full of tunes that will grab your head and bang it whether you want it or not, as well as fill your glass with your favorite bourbon.

These German wackos are not trying to reinvent the sound or something like that, but they can definitely offer you approximately 32 minutes of pure & passionate metallic Rock & Roll. Love it or hate it!
