Ghosts Of Atlantis – 3.6.2.4 Award winner

Ghosts Of Atlantis
3.6.2.4
by Caio Botrel at 27 March 2021, 7:15 AM

GHOSTS OF ATLANTIS is a Symphonic Melodic Metal band from the UK, and even if they are a young band with two years of existence, they are incredibly good. They have released their first album “3.6.2.4” today 26th March through Black Lion Records and that is what we are going to talk about.

The opening song if their single “The Third Pillar” which starts with a Tim Burton’s movie kind of soundtrack and then there are pretty good choirs that reminded me of DIMMU BORGIR. The guitars are very structured and it feels like a Groove Metal with some Arabic scales at some points. I loved the vocals. Such a powerful song.

Halls of Lemuria” starts with a great bass sound and an interesting orchestra, that creates place for the rest of the instruments. It’s a fast song, and I’m pretty sure that it will be at all of their gigs. The chorus is incredibly catchy and you will be singing it as soon as you hear it – you can also hear some clean vocals on it. “False Prophet” starts with a very nice orchestra that turns into something heavier when the guitars comes in. Their vocalist is very versatile, as he can sing clean, high and low gutturals and can alternate from each technique very easy.

The Curse of Man” starts with a beautiful dark and sad piano that created a perfect ambient for the Melodic Death Metal guitar riffs that comes right after it, and I must say that the bass lines were pretty good as well. “When Tridents Fall” starts with a beautiful symphonic sound and a speech about how to defeat a god. Then the storms comes in, that is a fucking fast song with a very aggressive drumming. I must say that I am very impressed on how creative they are.

Poseidon’s Bow” starts with a weird sound and then it turns into something very direct… right in your face. I can’t say much, just listen to it and feel the punch. “Gardens of Athena” starts with a beautiful and soft orchestra that slowly grows, creating an incredible ambiance and vibe. Then the guitars comes in, and one of them plays a beautiful guitar melody. That is an incredible song, with catch chorus and vocal lines and you will be banging your head to it.

The Lost Compass” is the song that ends their album, and it starts with a beautiful keyboard and some guitar arrangements. But once again, they didn’t kept it soft, but made it extremely technical instead. It does sound like a Technical Death Metal instrumental and I fucking loved how they mixed it up with the Symphonic influences. Great song, for a great album.

GHOSTS OF ATLANTIS have written and released of one of the BEST ALBUMS OF THE WHOLE YEAR. I am absolutely in love for everything here, from the compositions to the recording. I have nothing else to say, buy the album, support the band… they are already big!
