Finnish Symphonic Black Metallers
GLOOMY GRIM are back with their sixth album
"The age of Aquarius". As they say, the band was never dead. The album is forty-five minutes long, consisting of 10 tracks. It probably is the darkest declaration of the commencement of the Aquarian age, marking the end of the Piscean which was the waning astrological era of modern times, now - over. The first track,
“The Rise Of The Great Beast” is a rather melodic hymn with varying tempo, absolutely amazing guitars. Symphonic and heavy, a blast of a starter
.”Germination” is yet another Melodic Black metal number. If you like bands like
FRIGORIS, this won't disappoint you.
The third track,
“A Lady In White,” has an amazing acoustic guitar solo. Beautiful orchestration, darkly classical. Gloomy as the band, the vocals sound like cries from the deepest circles of hell. This track is pure beauty!
“Beyond The Hate” is studded with wintry piano and harsh guitar lines, the vocals are evil. The track consists of another excellent acoustic guitar solo.
“One Night I Heard A Scream” is a bit on the Avant-Garde side with the howling of thrashy riffs and heavier growls. A hymn for the darkest of evils.
“The Shameful Kiss” follows the same track with Progressive elements. Are you a fan of
ORANSSI or
FULLMOON BONGZAI? Do you like the psychedelic sugar cubes in your cup of black metal coffee? The Mist is a mid-tempo blend of such elements. Enjoy.
“Time” starts with the ticking of clocks, another mid-tempo track with ice cold riffs and a tint of
ORANSSI again.
“Light Of Lucifer Shine On Me” is the purest hymn for the dark lord (No not Voldemort) with orchestration so dark, the track itself is pure evil. The final chant,
“Trapped In Eternal Darkness” is an instrumental song. Ethereal piano, ice cold symphonies from the wintry graves of stars, probably saying goodbye to the Piscean races on their eternal journey to the stars.
