Godskill - I: The Forthcoming

I:The Forthcoming
by Jussi Gough at 27 March 2017, 1:14 PM

Germany's own death metallers GODSKILL unleash their debut album I-The Forthcoming offering a listening pandemonium that is sure to please the most discriminating of ear buds. Twisted into formation in 2011 these extremist of metal offer a refreshing turn into the death scene bestowing their unique brand of GODSKILL metal. Kicking into high gear the band tears it up with second track “I'm Your Death”, which slams into a drumming onslaught meshed with ferocious guitar works along hades inspired vocals. One can say that vocalist Carsten Quadel has that early Bolt Thrower inspired style but shows his own relentless approach. GODSKILL have a power-driven quality that surpasses bands of this caliber that show promise which can be heard on track eight “The Prophecy 1: Dreams of Fatima”. Intro starts with beautifully sung tenor hymns that reminisce ethereal choir chants enticing the listener to hear the rest of the diabolical intensity.

I-The Forthcoming simply is a well-constructed album showing confident musicianship where each member can be heard throughout showing well-crafted maturity. Guitarist Timo Schutz shreds the chorded rhythms of chaos that strike well with each member bringing an energizing tempo that is felt throughout the album. Creating the concentrated rhythm section drummer Thomas Bernhardt and bassist Uwe Schwaderer display their explosive beats along with heavy bass lines giving the finality of perfection. Songs that deliver GODSKILL intensity are “Zombie Bloodnight”, “Rise Demon Rise” and “The Prophecy 3: Agares” which guarantee to beg the listener for more. Listening to this album a dozen of times I am intrigued to want more but since this is their debut I wonder what kind of music they will create the second time around. As far as I'm concerned this band is well on their way to push their way past the metal gates aboveground. Impressive work!
