One thing that Metal bands must have clearly in mind: when a model isn’t able to translate your musical ideas, blast it to pieces and make things as you want. Yes, no one has to pay respect to models as they’re made of granite and can’t be modify at will. No, things aren’t in this way, and it seems that the English band
GOREBRINGER learned this lesson early in their career, because
“Terrified Beyond Measure” is a massive class of how being yourself.
They can be said as an Old School Melodic Death Metal band, bathing in the source created by names as
AT THE GATES and
EDGE OF SANITY, but the recollection of different elements that aren’t usual, even for Melodic Death Metal (as the keyboards parts) and technical guitar themes and solos. But be prepared, because they’re really aggressive and uses a huge dose of traditional Death Metal Well, words aren’t really able to describe some aspects of the trio’s music, so the best way is to be exposed to it, and you won’t regret the experience!
“Terrified Beyond Measure” bears a sonority that is really excellent, because it’s brutal and aggressive in many ways, allowing the brutal impact of band’s music to be felt; in other hand, things are defined and can be understood without great efforts by the fans. And it’s not an easy work to combine melodies and musical brutality, but it’s in a very good level. And
Krzysztof Klingbein on the drums and
Burak Ulugüney on keyboards are the invited guests presented on the album.
All the songs are really excellent, but to take a bit on what is shown on
“The Bottomless Pit” (a perfect combination of brutality and melodies, with excellent contrasts between grunted tunes and shrieked snarls of the vocals),
“Man to Beast” (a massive set of melodies are used on the guitar riffs and solos, and the hooks are hard to resist),
“Terrified Beyond Measure” (a massive brutal and fast onslaught done by bass guitar and drums, but again with excellent melodies),
“The Evil Ones” (another musical massacre with fast tempos from rhythmic session, and it’s nearer traditional Death Metal),
“Necro Mess” (excellent technical parts and hooking extreme melodies, and what lovely guitars), and
“Flesh Feast”. They’re just references for those who can’t listen to an entire album at first, but the others songs are great as well.
GOREBRINGER is really an excellent name in the Death Metal scene, and
“Terrified Beyond Measure” is amazing.
