Grave are one of the founders of the Swedish death / doom metal scene releasing their first demo, Sick Disgust Eternal, in 1987 following a name change from Corpse. Anyway if you wanted to read more boring history notes you would open an encyclopedia instead of reading the most sinister e-magazine planet right? To put it simply, if you dig into extreme, brutal, heavy, groovy death metal then Grave and their newborn offspring definitely yours. There are many interesting songs in this CD and this album is purely enjoyable mostly by death and thrash hard fans - as it was expected. However someone can find classical heavy metal elements, into the spine of the songs, making them appropriate even for a less fierce and violent metalhead. The rhythm guitar parts almost nail you down and start to impose on us the Graves metal master plan. Here you can also find many Slayer type horse - screaming lead guitar parts which make the whole album sounding even more fascinating! There is also one very violent cover in Alice In Chains classic mega hit Them Bones. It would be quite interesting to witness James Hetfield covering and co-playing this song along with Grave - as he did with guitarist Jerry Cantrell - don't you agree? As Rapture Comes is a fucking extreme typical though death metal album, containing all the energy you want to bang your head - as well as decapitating your neighbour - and all the necessary aggression to help you make it through your death metal day. Many tempo changes, the absolute death and obituary related lyrics, hellish vocals and true death metal attitude. There are really few chances not to like this album if you generally find yourself surrounded into the death metal territory. The album was recorded by the band at Studio Soulless and the final mix was made in the Abyss Studio with Peter Tagtgren. The displayed cover artwork for As Rapture Comes was designed by the Polish artist Jacek Wisnieswki, who has also worked with bands such as Krisiun, Vader, Decapitated and many more. Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: Burn, By Demons Bred, Living The Dead Behind and As Rapture Comes. As the guitarist of the band states This one takes Grave into a new dimension while still staying true to our legacy of brutal, heavy death metal. We could not definitely agree more. Enjoy this morbid coming of rapture!
