GTS - Time Stood Still (Reissue)

Time Stood Still (Reissue)
by Katarzyna Zakolska at 18 January 2013, 12:14 AM

GTS is an AOR band from United Kingdom. Second time I had an opportunity to listen GTS. "Time Stood Still”is the second album of this British group. It was originally released in 1996 and in 2012 was released re-issue this CD. The band's lineup consisted of Greg Hart (guitarist in MORITZ, IF ONLY), vocalist Sam Blue, bassist Toby Sadler and SAMSON drummer Charlie Mack.

On the album there are 12 tracks. When you are listening opening track “Time Stands Still”you will know at once that this album will be great. Through your thoughts will surge those good old times of AOR comeback. Perfectly manned drum and bass with fine keyboards. I think it is nice beginning followed by the shouts of: “want more & more!”. Tracks like “Innocence” and ballad “Fight To Survive” co-written by Mike Moran (QUEEN, SURVIVOR, OZZY OSBOURNE). “Innocence” displays melodic chorus, great bass work delivering a song that is both light and easy listening. I liked the vocals very much, as well as the backing line. Ok, sometimes it is noticeable how vintage sounding are the keys but also sharing the feel of 80s and 90s. You cannot miss “Solitude” where can find following the vein of FOREIGNER when it comes to keys, bass while the guitars share appreciation to  moods.Melodic refrain with similarity to QUEEN. Also well played is “Deeper In Love” with powerful energy. “I Know What You Are Searching For“ is softer song, like a ballad with a pleasant-sounding chorus similarity to BON JOVI in a way. I like very much “A Little Love”, another classic AOR ballad with great singing of something like an a-cappella origin produced with a gentle accompanying of instruments.Memorable harmonic peak moments which sounds that will melt your soul can be found on “Under The Same Sun”. This is an enjoyable enjoying this song, well composed bass and excellent guitar solo. I found resemblances to TOTO, KANSAS and VAN HALEN.

I have 2 favourite songs on this album. First there is “I Remember”, co-written by Bob Mitchell (HOUSE OF LORDS, FIONA, CHEAP TRICK) and I find this song as fantastic. This is a gentle track with a fine melodic vocals and amazing bass lines, utterly catchy chorus that is just plain impressive. I think I heard it somewhere, maybe when I was little my older brother listened to this album probably. GTS made me experience one of the great five minutes with great standout moments on this number. Second there is “Caught In The Game”.This is his remake of the AIRRACE classic. Over 3 minutes with keys & drums along with adequate bass work. It sounds also like old good tracks of FOREIGNER. Chorus delivered with energy & power. Nice guitar solo made me smile & longing for old great years of the older decades.

“Time Stood Still” is the second album of GTS is yet another very good album presenting some of the band's greatest works. For me “Tracks From The Dustshelf” was also excellent CD, but this second is more solid polished. I'm sure that fans of FOREIGNER, TOTO & other Rock bands from 80s will be in the seventh heaven during listening to this album totally recommendable.
