When
Gus G wanted to make a solo record, he wanted to make damn sure it was something the fans hadn’t heard before. His first solo album “
Guitar Master” has a lot of instrumental tracks that
Gus originally deemed unfit for his other band
FIREWIND. “
Guitar Master” allowed
Gus to experiment and try his hand at
writing songs, not just playing them. Not having to answer to anyone creatively or production wise meant a lot of freedom to just do what came naturally in the studio, which was a huge plus on its own.
Gus liked this new creative process so much, his current album “
Fearless” is his fourth solo album.
Gus collaborated with vocalist
Dennis Ward of
UNISONIC, and drummer
Will Hunt of
EVANESCENCE on this album.
Gus’ second studio album “
I am the Fire” featured a lot of guest vocalists from
STEEL PANTHER,
DEVOUR THE DAY, and
CANDLEMASS just to name a few, so
Gus clearly isn’t shy to collaborate.
The talent of all three shows from the first track
“Letting Go”.
Dennis’ lyrics are literally a light in the darkness just like he sings in the song’s chorus while
Gus’ guitar frets are, of course, unrivaled even by
Will Hunt’s insane speed on the drums. An instant 80s-style classic
“Mr. Manson” about, what else, but the infamous deeds of the late, not-so-great Charles Manson himself?
“Don’t Tread on Me” is not a
METALLICA cover, but a song about getting back on track after losing your way so many years ago. Title track
“Fearless” is a mind-bending instrumental track where
Gus shines like a diamond on his guitar. There are cool synths in the opening of classic
DIRE STRAITS song
“Money for Nothing”.
“Chances” is infectious and well-rounded with
Gus’ mad guitar frets.
Gus G. has no problem keeping the listener in one place. His chords nothing short of captivating ensuring that you are listening. “
Fearless” is the latest addition to
Gus’ legendary reputation.
