Gutter Instinct - Heirs Of Sisyphus

The Opening song “Satan Within” on “GUTTER INSTINCT’S” newest album “Heirs Of Sisyphus” is a great opening to this album. Deep gutturals from Simon Fridlund that are above par, as well as the rest of the members. The track “Zenon” is as brutal as you could want and the guitar work from Oscar Persson and Hannes Hellman is played really well. “The Abyss Speaks” the third track has a slower but aggressive beginning which really sucked me in. It reminds me of earlier “SUFFOCATION” and “DYING FETUS” but it also has a hint of Black Metal. The Bass work on this song played by Simon Isaksson is really great.

So far i'd have to say this band is pretty legit and I have no complaints. “Shock Doctrine” starts off with a bang and slowly transitions into a sludgy almost Stoner Death Metal song by the end. Overall I really liked it. Now we come to “Uncreation” the fifth track, which seems to be a little more epic than the previous songs. It is definitely I would jam driving around while banging my head. Now “Tip of the Spear” really has a Blackened Death Metal feel to it which I absolutely love. It is Probably my favorite track so far and will most assuredly add to my playlist.

At track seven we have “The Luminous Darkness” which is a lot shorter than the rest of the songs. But where it lacks length it makes up with being brutal as hell. I really wish it had been longer but it is still amazing as is. It really helped lead towards the end of this really well made album. The finale is the self titled track “Heirs of Sisyphus”. I wouldn't expect any less than what they put into this song. It has everything from slower Death Metal, to wonderfully written shreds. I have to say I have been satiated with my hunger for metal listening to “Gutter Instinct” and their great work on “Heirs of Sisyphus”. Good job guys and keep up the great work!
