There's a shitload of HALFORD/FIGHT releases going on the last couple of years. Through Rob's own Metal God Entertainment label - and in cooperation with distributors and marketeers across the globe - we've witnessed lots of CDs/DVDs with remastered or previously unreleased stuff to feed the aficionados' hunger. Waiting in line (already available for digital download) are - herein reviewed - HALFORD's first studio and live album, Resurrection and Live Insurrection respectively. Well, let's raise some hell again… Rob Halford –> no info needed. R U nuts? Resurrection –> In 1999 Rob decides to return to his Metal shelter. Each played vital roles in my return to Metal, he states regarding the musicians deployed around him for the making of this debut HALFORD release, eagerly awaited by the whole Metal community, too. Truth is the lineup turned out to be such bombastic that few could swallow Resurrection's energy at once. Sharp riffs, a bulldozer-like rhythm section, some fitting (modern yet time-honored) production by Roy Z. Will not comment any further on the music, since most chances are every fan of Rob Halford has or - at least - has listened to this album. Let's just state that this newly remastered/remixed version of the CD features both bonus tracks from the original Japanese edition plus two previously unreleased songs (God Bringer Of Death and Fetish). Live Insurrection –> Prior to the release of the Crucible follow-up studio album, HALFORD recorded this double-disc live CD as a result of the band's nonstop live activities in support of the Resurrection debut. Again produced by Roy Z, Live Insurrection sees a full force crushin' machine caught on tape(…), while there's a couple of good questions regarding the crowd/music/dubs mix. The songlist features HALFORD and FIGHT numbers plus a portion of JUDAS PRIEST classics (widely known or not). In regards to the original issue, the remastered/remixed version also offers a SCORPIONS hymn, Blackout, with Rudolf Schenker participating onstage as a guest (a bonus in the original Japanese release). Of course, the 'outtakes' team (Screaming In The Dark, Heart Of A Lion and Prisoner Of Your Eyes) is again present. Both releases include multi-page booklets with lots of info and photos from that era. Plus: if you commit to purchase 'em both at once via the Rob Halford webshop (www.robhalford.com) you'll be treated with the Silent Screams: The Singles radio promo 4-track disc as a gift. Hence, not already having these albums in your collection means now is - at last -the time.
