Hammerfall is one of those bands that have created the music standards and know how to sustain their position. You will not find them experimenting through dramatic changes to their sound or leaning towards a different genre. Although another Glory To The Bravesurely can't be released again, they manage to keep the bar high with their new release Threshold. It's widely Known that Hammerfall through their debut release Glory To The Brave succeeded in creating a new metal genre called True Metal and still after almost ten years they firmly support this statement, from the music and lyrics to the angry warrior on the cover. Since 1993, numerous changes on the line up occurred, but are still able to present an outstanding performance for the 'true metal' standards. Threshold revolves around pure heavy metal with a lot of epic elements. The songs generally follow the same pattern and sometimes, this repetitive motivo can be proved quite tiresome. Tracks that deviate from the norm are definitely Natural High and Titans and you might find yourself pleasantly surprised with the ballad Dark Wings, Dark Words and the instrumental Reign Of The Hammer, were keyboards make their debut appearance. Generally, Threshold is a good record and will definitely satisfy the Hammerfall fans and the Epic maniacs! The band lost some points through its repetitiveness, but gained a lot from its ability to keep the Hammerfall stamp in their sound.
