Hardcore Superstar - HCSS Award winner

Hardcore Superstar
HCSS
by Charlotte "Lotty" Whittingham at 29 April 2015, 4:15 PM

As a dedicated member of the Hard Rock community I was already aware of what impact Swedish quartet HARDCORE SUPERSTAR had on the scene. Being an avid fan of Hard Rock myself I must admit I have somehow let them escape my ear space until I was assigned their latest album “HCSS”.

When they were young teenagers growing up in a town out Gothenburg, Sweden they originally ended up in different bands; drummer Adde Andreasson was originally in a heavier band known as DORIAN GRAY whereas front man Jocke Berg was providing his excellent vocals in Glam Rock outfit GLAMOURY FOXX. These two musicians from two genres of Metal that would often be described as chalk and cheese ended up together. After performing in LINK for a number of years HARDCORE SUPERSTAR was eventually born.

Onto the album itself; the opening song “Don’t Mean Shit” shows that the Swedish quartet are not here to mess around. Like I have said, this is my first proper experience of these Swedish Hard Rockers and it’s great to hear another band bringing the old sounds of eighties Hair Metal back onto the systems. One of the things I enjoy particularly enjoy about this album is that no track sounds the same; from the psychedelic mellowness of “Fly” to the brilliantly heavy “Messed Up For Sure” there is something to suite everyone’s pallet.

My personal favourite tracks on the album are “The Cemetary”, “Off With Their Heads” and “Touch The Sky”. I love to have a dance along to heavier tracks, good ones are exceptionally hard to find and these ones tick all the boxes. Especially if they have you dancing wherever you happen to be, which these ones certainly will.

I am hoping you’re gathering from this glowing report on HARDCORE SUPERSTAR’s latest release that I highly enjoyed this album. A valuable diamond for fans of Hard Rock or a special treat for those who want to try something different.
