Hartmann - Home (CD)

by Grigoris Chronis at 16 December 2006, 5:24 PM

I'd not believe OLIVER HARTMANN would release a sophomore solo album. Not that last year's (or pre-last?) Out In The Cold was a disappointing album - a very good melodic Rock release was it! - but nothing 'serious' was heard for this good singer after his debut was released. Now, Home strikes outta nowhere (again) and HARTMANN ensures his beliefs for his present (musical) existence.
Keeping two musicians in the band's(?) lineup - Armin Dondener and Jurgen Wuest - HARTMANN carries on the 'soul confessing' melodic Rock music he presented in his debut effort. This time things seem to run ever smoother in terms of nerve, strongly flirting with alien likes of Pop music or something like this. Who would imagine that he - the co-founder of excellent Euro Metal soldiers AT VANCE - would focus that much in developing his AOR (in general) career onwards. Strongly inspired by his support slot to selected TOTO 2006 dates, HARTMANN clears out any doubt 'bout what the album may sound like straight from the tracklist names.
It's not a bad album; it definitely isn't. It's just that Home falls far away from even the 'mellowest' Hard Rock fan. A step below its predecessor, the album is likely to please only 'sweet' melodic Rock fans only.
