Helligators - Hell III

Helligators
Hell III
by Jon Glenn at 15 July 2019, 9:18 PM

I’ve been tasked to review the new album by the Rock N' Rollers HELLIGATORS. Hailing from Rome in 2009, these guys play modern Hard Rock / Metal music for fans of FIVE FINGERS DEATH PUNCH, SEETHER, THEORY OF A MADMAN.

Starting off the album there are songs like, “Rebellion”, “Here to Stay”, “Bleeding” you know right off the bat what you’re getting into which is what I would classify as, Bar Rock. Just something to have on in the background while you and buddies can talk about how bad the music is in the place but if you were with your dad who actually would like this stuff you would agree that it’s not that bad to not make your Pops feel like an old fart.

Now with some of the more decent parts being the solos I have to give credit where credit is due. The guitar solos on this are actually pretty sweet mixing a lot of pentatonic with tremolo picking, “Born Again” and “Until I feel no more” are 2 examples of pretty cool solos from the album that shine more than anything else on this. Other than that the other thing that I think stands out is the production. It at least sounds decent and crisp enough to make the solos shine and the vocals sound decent however these days everything sounds decent enough.

All in all, I can’t say I’d recommend this album to anyone that I hang out with. However, if you’re into hard rock at all I’d say give it a spin and have your own thoughts of it. It all seems like it’s just recycled manufactured Bar Rock that gives me a bad taste in my mouth.
