Her Name Was Fire – Decadent Movement Award winner

Her Name Was Fire
Decadent Movement

HER NAME WAS FIRE are a 2 man band from Lisbon who have been together since creating HER NAME WAS FIRE in 2016. The Stoner Grunge band have released a new album called “Decadent Movement” which is due to be released on April 3rd 2020 under Raging Planet Records. The new album contains 11 songs to choose from and is one worth listening out for. It’s an album that is perfect for kicking back & chilling out with. The album is easy to listen to & the guys obviously put their heart & soul into the album in effort as they both take care of the guitars, drums & vocals together with no problems creating an album that sounds as sweet to the ear as you can get on a Sunday morning. The band who claim “HER NAME WAS FIRE arrived to shake the foundations of Rock and lure the ears of those who dare to cross the path of their demolishing sound waves.” They certainly bring a good album to the table.

The album opens with the song “Enter Decadent” which sounds like a brief warble before moving onto song number 2 “Devil’s Disco” is a song with mixed tones and beats throughout, sounding a different tempo toward the middle of the song and picking up the pace towards the last section of the song. Song number 3 is “Another Rodeo” which has been released as a single in the weeks before the upcoming album’s release. It’s a song that’s catchy & grungy to the core. The guitar riffs are awesome in this song, and indeed the whole album. The drum beats are well timed & focused. Song number 6 is “Allure” which opens with a the wailing of the guitars which sound slightly warped in such a way that the sound seems to bend. The different vocal octaves can be heard throughout this song in particular, which is good to hear. Song number 9 is called “Close Enough.” This is a slow paced song that slips into a smooth tempo and makes you feel like your lying on a huge sofa surrounded by soft cushions and your melting into them, true Stoner Grunge at it’s finest. The album closes with the song “Cabin Fever” which is 3 minutes 30 seconds of decadence indeed. The song has a very chilled yet venomous vibe to it, chilled musically but venomous lyrics, a very nice combination and an excellent song to finish off the new album.

Overall I enjoyed the album very much. It’s heavy in the right places, chilled as Stoner Grunge should be. It’s an album that’s easy to listen to, and one that I can see me listening to more than once or twice. I would recommend the band to anyone who likes Stoner Grunge or even just if you enjoy the chilled side of Rock/Metal. The lyrics have been well written for the album & the music has been performed well. The album “Decadent Movement" will surely capture the hearts of fans new & old alike. Credit has to be given where it is deserved and for 2 guys to write, record and produce an album of this standard on their own really does deserve credit indeed as it’s a high quality album to spin on your CD player or stream on digital platforms upon it’s release on April 3rd 2020. I’d say if you don’t give it a listen your gonna miss a treat!
