Hideaway - Hideaway Award winner

Hideaway
Hideaway
by "Metal Mark" Garcia at 18 October 2019, 7:15 AM

The Greek Metal/Rock scene became known throughout the world on the 90’s due to the Extreme Metal genres of those days. Today, it’s not a sin to think that every single Metal/Rock genre must have a representing band on Greece. These are words only to say that HIDEAWAY can seem somewhat an unexpected band for the country, because the musical content of “Hideaway” is truly amazing. Could someone think that Greece could give birth to a AOR/Hard Rock band in the same vein of names as JOURNEY, BON JOVI, DEF LEPPARD, BOSTON and other giants that walked the Earth during the 70’s and 80’s. It’s melodic and accessible, filled with excellent catchy choruses, being based principally on keyboards’ parts, and a personal energy and insight of the genre. Yes, it’s excellent!

The sound quality of “Hideaway” is what anyone could expect of a AOR/Hard Rock album: clean and with all the instrumental tunes defines in a way that the listeners can understand fully what is being played, but with the essential crude touch that a Rock album must bear. It’s almost impossible to point to one or other track as their best ones on the album. But just to begin, the charming melodies and chorus of “Another Day”, the perfect keyboards parts and guitar riffs shown on “Promises”, the accessible hit “Calling You” (the kind of song that would be a great commercial success during the 80’s, with very good vocals and chorus), the charming ambiance of “Hideaway” and “Lonely Nights”, the Pop Rock scent due the AOR driven force of “Life is a Wonder”, and… Come on, hear the entire album! It can hook every listener easily (expect for those extreme radical fanatics that say that hate everything, but listen to AOR in the homes, hidden from their colleagues).

Lovely and really charming, “Hideaway” is amazing to hear. And let’s hope that HIDEAWAY will not be a one album band, or being clear, that the band will be back for a new release in the nearby future.
