Hoods - Ghettoblaster (CD)

Hoods
Ghettoblaster

One more Hardcore release coming straight from the Alveran headquarters. This time I have to deal with one more American frenzy Hardcore band, HOODS. While searching on the net, I found some pretty interesting facts about them that made me believe that I have to do with a really cool and hard working band here. Interested? Just read below…

The band was formed back in 1995 in Sacramento, California. Here is what important stuff I found out. The band was a part of Jasta's (HATEBREED's singer) own label, Stillborn Records. With previous releases on Stillborn, as well as Victory Records the band decided to celebrate its 10 years of existence (in 2005) by signing a contract with Alveran to release the album The King Is Dead. Let's see if their new album is as good as the note at the back of the promo says.

HOODS is a pretty dynamic band for sure. The band's Hardcore assault is obvious from the very first second of Ghettoblaster. The production creates an ultra heavy sound and the guitarists are taking the advantage to create a riffing that blows your brain to the wall! Extra credits go to the very good rhythm section that reminds of masters of the genre like HATEBREED and SICK OF IT ALL. The only bad regarding the sound are the drums, which sound a bit empty. On the one hand, the snare does not sound as it should, but on the other hand, the sound depends 100% on the band. If they like it, I do not have to comment anything else. Anyway, the album is characterized by its awesome sing along choruses. There is no way that you won't catch yourself singing some lyrics! The vocals are kick-ass and the whole album is beyond my expectations!

Brutal Hardcore fans will definitely love Ghettoblaster, as well as its totally gangsta cover! I won't even try to compare this band to Hardcore titans like HATEBREED, but in my humble opinion the greats of the genre just found a really competitive rival!
