An EP from a band named HOPEWELL, haven't heard about them till now, however apparently they have been there since 1995 with some name and lineup changes. The music could be defined as Psychedelic Rock at least that’s what they say. The band is originally from the USA , NY area. So what have we got in this EP, 5 songs, lets hit play and see.
First Song “Needle In The Camel's Eye” (does seem to hurt), starts with a joyful strumming that remind the Psychedelic area of the 70s filled of LSD and other great drugs, the song itself keeps you floating around with a good vibration. “The King & The Canary” has more of a Southern sound and yet again the vocals and ambient sound that will send you back to the Psychedelic era of the 70s.
Maybe the best is “This Is This” that start with a Southern meet Blues riff and an amazing atmospheric sound of the piano, the song it’s self is amazing by far one of the best songs I heard on 2012 (the EP was released in 2012), great classic 70s Psychedelic rock, surly if I didn’t know that this EP was released on 2012 I would think that It’s a 70s song.
“Over The Mountain” could only described is fucking Psychedelic all around with many strange sounds and many instruments in the background, the drumming sequenced will surely put you into a trance. The last track and not a song “The Six Knowables” it’s an instrumental mash of sound not surprising cause the Psychedelic rock does imply for this kind of instrumental.
Overall short but surprising, at least for me. Didn’t know them but sure waiting for a full release.
