In The Fire – Volatile Beings

In The Fire
Volatile Beings
by Brian "Metal" Morton at 03 March 2019, 9:26 PM

From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania comes the up and coming band IN THE FIRE. Their 8 track full length album “Volatile Beings” is a wonderful mix of Speed, Black and Death Metal. This album is chock full of heavy riffs, insane drumming and awesome guitar solo’s. Think SLAYER met up with KREATOR, IHSAHN and ENTOMBED, and they put out an album together. It feels like the 80’s through the early 00’s all mixed into one album. This is sure to not disappoint if you are a fan of those bands I listed.

The first track “Feral” is absolutely killer. Ryan Moll is a beast on guitars and vocals. This was an epic way to start things off. The second track “The Devil in the Mirror” honestly sounds like if IHSAHN decided to go thrash a bit. This song is absolutely fantastic. The drumming by Patrick and Mike is on point throughout this entire album, but I really appreciated this song. “Into Battle” has an ICED EARTH feel to it at the beginning and I absolutely love it. This song is fucking bad ass and is so far my favorite song.

Next up we have the song “Channel” takes it down a notch and slows things down. This is a morose sounding song but still has that aggression behind it. This one is great for when you are just chilling out and listening to your music at home. “In the Fire” is a nice little acoustic piece with the sounds of a fire in the background. And then out of nowhere boom “Techno-Sociopathic De-Evolution” comes on like a bat out of hell. This one is fantastic and really sounds like a throwback to the 80’s. I think it will probably be a fan favorite of theirs.

The second to last song “Inside out” honestly sounds like one of those covers that CRADLE OF FILTH has done in the past. There is nothing wrong with it at all but that is what my first impression was. This song is really good and I highly recommend it. The final song on the album is “The Poisoned Rye” which is the longest, is one hell of an ending. This is one of my favorites as well and I think that IN THE FIRE has gotten themselves a new fan.
