Jagged Vision - Death Is This World

Jagged Vision
Death Is This World
by JOGANEGAR at 10 May 2017, 3:49 PM

JAGGED VISION is a Sludge/Stoner Metal band from Norway that have forcefully represented the genre since two thousand ten. Death is this world is their second Full Length Album released through “Fysisk Format,” not a format itself but a record label based in Oslo, and apart from an outstanding cover art and the stage persona the bands performance on this second work represents a violent outburst of motion into the mainstream of metal and the attention of the representatives of The Metal Temple itself.

Without hesitation, and in a complete straight forward attitude this album by the Norwegian band JAGGED VISION is a vast journey into a world of sonic contrast and hammered on tempo changes and break downs. The vocals to me sound a tad less aggressive than the rest of the band, perhaps incorporating a more growling sound instead of the squealing and more metal core oriented tessiture could make this band evolve into a presence with a more sturdy and thorough character, I loved the melodic bridges á la IN FLAMES like in “Forlorn” the next to last song and to me the one that proves the essence of the band and their capability to evolve into a conscientious ensemble of musicians with a long but steady way to go into their line of growth.

The final track “Pale Horse” acts out as the closure for this very appreciable second effort from this band and forgoes the improvement on the production and the instrument focused sound that rests assured in the musical talent of its performers rather than the technical resources of its recording software. They are a young band with a bright future and a record that reminds of the times before the more trendier side of Sludge and Hardcore spread throughout virtual and real world alike, and the spirit to become a constant in Metal Temple’s sessions.
