Jorn - Bring Heavy Rock Back To The Land

Jorn
Bring Heavy Rock Back To The Land
by Fede "FedeRock" Taich at 20 July 2012, 4:08 AM

Jorn Lande is no stranger in the Hard Rock / Metal scene. As the voice of MASTERPLAN, ARK and his solo band JORN, Mr. Lande has established himself a place in the top of the lead singers for some time now donating his skills to projects as AVANTASIA, ALLEN / LANDE, AYREON and many more. His voice is powerful and very similar to WHITESNAKE’s David Coverdale.

Bring Rock Back To The Land” is JORN’s Latest album and it is continuing his melodic commanding Hard Rock vibe. With songs like “Bring Heavy Rock To The Land” and “I Came To RockJORN takes us to a journey of Heavy Rock with dominant riffs, strong vocals and Rockin’ lyrics. This album, as most of JORN’s albums, is a straight Heavy Rock shooter and that's all, it doesn’t bring nothing new to the table. It might sound like a cliché with many riffs that reminds a lot of WHITESNAKE, DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH. On the other hand, this style of music is so recognizable with the bands I named that it’s really hard to play something that doesn’t sound like them.  Jorn does it great, it’s not new, but simple and fun and his voice is always on the top. The only track that I have a problem with is The “cover” to MASTERPLAN’s “Time To Be King”. I don’t get the need to re-record a song by a band you play in and also, the song was awesome on the original recording, and this one is not too different.

Production wise, the album sounds big and very Hansen like (album’s mix, master and engineering) that is known for his compressed and tight sound. Overall, good record and pretty cool. If you’re looking for something besides simple fun Heavy Rock this album might not be the one, but if you’re into old school Hard Rock this is a great one to have in your car stereo, iPod or whatever.
