The Independent Icelandic juggernauts known as KEELRIDER are back with a new single off of their upcoming release called ‘’Second Wind’’. They are a Stoner Metal band from Reykjavik, Iceland. They released their first album only last year called ‘’North’’ to great independent success and won various awards from the Metal Podcasts and Metal Radios back in their home country. Wise beyond their years, they deliver some solid stuff. It may not be revolutionary but it’s something you can listen over and over again without any problem.

I always choose the albums I want to review by genre though I have discovered some genres I like better than others nonetheless. I really have enjoyed Doom and Stoner much more as I grow older. I chose this band because of the genre and I had no idea that this was an EP, only one song. They also released another EP called ‘’Too Far Gone’’ which is the second single off the upcoming release.

It’s tough to review only one song you know…it’s only 5 minutes long. It does give you one hell of an excuse to listen to it over and over again though. This is classic Stoner Metal, it has that rough edge and its vey reminiscent of bands like SLEEP, ELECTRIC WIZARD with a bit of older KYUSS mixed into it. They combine the sounds of these bands and make something of their own. It’s not going to revolutionize the world of music but it’s a crowdpleaser. I bet it sounds great live and unfortunately that they only located back in Iceland!

This song gives you just a glimpse in their talent and if you want to listen to their previous album, well this is the logical progression. They show off a maturity in their songwriting and the production values are very good for the genre. Sometimes back lack the production to maintain that raw sound but not them. I enjoyed the sun immensely and after listening to the song like 10 times, I was saying to myself : ‘’Geez, I really want more of this!!! 5 minutes is so short and I wanted a complete album right now!!!’’.

They have so much promise and potential, can’t wait for the album to be released early next year!
