KROMHEIM is a brand-new project from Poland that is inspired by the Norse Melodic Death Metal and culture of Vikings. The creator of the project has just released his first EP self-titled “Kromheim” and that is what we are going to talk about. The opening track from the album “Prayer” starts fast and heavy, with a cool melody played by the guitar and fast drumming. The vocals are gutturals and they perfectly fit the song, there are also a mix between Melodic Death Metal influences with some Black Metal flirt at some points. Cool song.

Freedom” starts with a beautiful melody played by the guitar and supported by the guitar riffs, bass, and drums – it has a Folk Metal vibe here and I loved it. I liked how that song change its patterns and used a little bit of the bass in a better way. That song is more dynamic than the previous one and I am sure that the Folk fans will dance and drink to it. “Revenge” starts as fast and cold as a shark in the Northern Sea. It starts with a very cool guitar riff and extremely fast drumming; I am sure that it would take the venues down. Even if it’s a very heavy song, there are a lot of different melodies coming from the guitars and the vocal lines are also melodic, even if they are guttural vocals.

Storm Of The Gods” is the last song from the album and it starts as epic as a Melodic Death Metal with Folklore thematic can be. There are peaceful parts during the heaviness and chaotic riffs and ambiances, and I liked it. Great song.

KROMHEIM did an amazing EP and gave a nice start to their career. The songs will please the ears of the Melodic Death Metal and Folk Metal fans out there. The vocals are good and fits the songs, there are different dynamics on each song, even if they are aggressive most of the time, you can hear balance between chaos and peace. The same goes to the instruments, that were all nicely executed, and the production is cool as well. It’s good to see another nice band from Poland on the rise.
