Leah - Ancient Music Award winner

Leah
Ancient Music
by "Metal Mark" Garcia at 08 November 2019, 7:10 AM

As many fans can see, the commercial success of female singers as Enya and Loreena McKennitt inspired many generations. Today, many musicians, even into Metal and Rock scenes, prefer to express their ideas musically in the same format. And the Canadian singer LEAH does the same in a great way, as her new album, “Ancient Winter”, is here to show. Her musical work is not based on classic instruments of Metal, but in keyboards, cellos, and some others that allows Leah to mix Medieval/Folk Music ambiances, World/Ethnic Music with symphonic arrangements. That’s a good and simple way to describe the music that is heard on “Ancient Winter”, besides the music isn’t as so simple as it can seem. It’s warm and tender, easy to be understood and assimilated by the listeners’ minds, but inspired.

On the sound quality of “Ancient Winter”, of course anyone could wait for something clean and defined, because it’s not a Metal album on its core. But everything was worked on a way that each musical arrangement sounds clean and loud to the listeners. And that’s what matters. “Ancient Winter” was created in a way that all fans of Folk Metal, Celtic Metal, Symphonic Rock will love it. And the tender weaving melodies and chants of “The Whole World Summons”, the mix of Medieval ambiances with oriental parts shown on “Light of the World”, The sweet scent of nature that invades the listeners during “Upon Your Destiny” and “Redemption”, the charming orchestrations and pianos parts of “Gaudete”, and the deeper and lovely outfit of “Noel Nouvelet” are the album’s finest moments, besides on a second hearing, all the songs will seduce everyone who hears to it.

The final question is not if “Ancient Winter” is a Metal album or not, but if it can satisfy the fans. The answer is that LEAH presents such a wonderful music that all will love it. Hear it and confirm these words.
