Magna Carta - Guitar Greats Volume 1 (CD)

Magna Carta
Guitar Greats Volume 1
by Panagiotis Koutsompogeras at 12 July 2007, 1:49 PM

Well, here is one album that you know who or where it definitely refers to from the first note to the last sound of it. Here it is obvious that if you are not familiar with the names of Alex Skolnick, Derek Trucks, George Lynch, Jake E Lee, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Steve Morse, Steve Stevens, Steve Lukather or Vinnie Moore then this is NOT your type of album. On the other hand, if you are a guitar fan - let's make it clear and save som etime - this is one of your coolest guitar collection albums for this year.
So here we go: Magna Carta has collected the cream-of-the-cream of nowadays guitar heroes (with the exception of Steve Vai, James Hetfield and Sakis Tolis of course!) - and put them to prove and show once again their virtuosity and endless talent they possess. Their style in this album ranges from fusion or jazz to experimental or almost heavy metal sounding and compositions, so there is absolutely no chance that you may feel the lack of one kind of music or the other.
The majority of the songs presented here have also been found in the past in various collections - so what you also get here is a chance of having extra fine guitar based instrumental tracks all found in one CD. On the whole, this album provides a wide selection of tracks of guitar-influenced shredding music, which will mostly appeal to six-string lovers, but also to those who would like to check out something new and rocking at the same time. So, sit back relax and dig into the emotions these guys may pull out of you. We must also notice that apart from the instrumental song - which are the majority of course here - there are a couple of typical songs with vocals so this diversifies the whole climate a bit more.
In addition to the aforementioned guitar monsters, you should also know that here we also have participations from other gifted musicians such as James Murphy, Wayne Gardner, Derek Sherinian,  Jordan Rudess, Glenn Hughes, Sebastian Bach, Mark Slaughter and Deen Castronovo. Aren't all these guys enough to stimulate you & dig into this album or not? Some of the coolest of this album are: Fate Speaks, Screaming Ahead, Things Ain't What They Used To Be, Cool Wind, Green Hills and Western Sabbath Stomp.
