Magnacult - Synore (CD)

Magnacult
Synore
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 19 July 2007, 1:21 AM

Holland is well known for its many great Death Metal bands (all hail THANATOS and LEGION OF THE DAMNED), as well as for the beer that accompanies my daily activities, Heineken. Everything seems pretty good so far, but what when it comes to melodic Death Metal/Metalcore from Holland? GOD DETHRONED have shown that not only brutality can come out of this country, but melody, too. Will MAGNACULT be able to convince us about the same thing?

The band is active for not more than two years, since it was formed in 2005. It seems that they didn't waste much time to release their debut album. The strange thing is that I didn't manage to find any demo releases or any promo stuff. Maybe they had their album ready and Rusty Cage signed them in order to release it. Anyway, that's not the matter right now…

The matter is that MAGNACULT release an album that didn't manage to impress me at all! The songs lack of the energy and the passion this kind of music has. The vocals sound weak, the riffs are not what I expected to come across and the rhythm section is just good. Only the production helps the band. The sound is crystal clear and the band owes that to Jochem Jacobs, TEXTURES' guitarist who was the producer for this album. I really don't have many things to comment on Synore.

This album is suggested only to people who totally adore this sound and like most releases that carry the melodic Death Metal tag. As for me, I just thank God that this album was just 35 minutes long.
