After THE SENSELESS' Into The Realm Of The Senseless, I got a really good impression about what to expect from the English Anticulture Records. I was waiting for a second album from that label to see what more can we expect. Someone must have heard my words and sent me MALEFICE's debut album for some weird Thrash Metal experience!
British metallers MALEFICE were formed in 2005 in Berkshire, United Kingdom. They debuted with their 2006 EP Relentless, which was issued through Hangmans Joke Records. It seems that their EP was good enough to secure them a contract with Anticulture, where they signed to release their debut album entitled Entities.
MALEFICE managed to impress me from the first notes of Entities! Their brutality, their groove, their melodies and in general everything seemed so good! This band has the power and the energy only a few new bands can deliver to the listener! I had to feel such energy coming out of the speakers since DEATHCHAIN's Deathrash Assault! It's not Metalcore, neither Thrash! It is not Progressive Metal either! It is just all of them mixed together! Imagine DEATHCHAIN's slower parts combined with UNEARTH's groove and PANTERA's whiskey soaked tunes! Now you've got an image of what this album may sound like. But even if you try, you won't be able to get it. We are talking about five guys that define the word progressive. Equipped with a more than good production, MALEFICE deliver an album full of great compositions that will blow your sorry brains!
The first time you listen to Entities, its approximately 46 minutes may seem a bit hard for you to digest, but when you get used to it, you will headbang until you bleed! Believe me; these guys know what they're doing! When a track ends and another starts, you just don't know what you're going to face!
Who can resist the pure meaning of the word progression (except for the old school metallers)? This band releases a masterpiece debut album and shows that it is ready for a more than worthy follow up! Will you be able to resist? I wanna see you scream for mercy when MALEFICE's rhythm section hits you down like thunder!
