Man The Machetes - Av Nag

Man The Machetes
Av Nag
by Aaron "Five Magics" Price at 14 September 2015, 10:54 PM

MAN THE MACHETES is a Norwegian Hard Rock band who take aspects from old Rock bands, like AC/DC and LED ZEPPELIN, and fuse them with more modern bands. Take old Rock and give it a Metalcore twist with bands like PARKWAY DRIVE and TRIVIUM, and you've got the newest MAN THE MACHETES album "Av Nag". Out through Indie Recordings, "Av Nag" is far from anything you'd expect when you first turn it on; it’s an album that features non-traditional vocals over Hard Rock instrumentals to make something new.

From the opening track "De Sier Nei!”, you start to get an idea what this band has to offer. Old school fast paced rock over semi harsh Metalcore-ish vocals, which is something that sorta drew me in. In the beginning, I wasn't much for this, but after listening through a couple times, it's something I find rather unique in the stlye it’s presented. The band is almost reinventing a new Punk sound.

"Dopamin," "Tung Luft" and "Adjø Artemis" continue to draw in the listener; these songs are heavier Rock songs with more catchy and hooky riffs and easier vocal patterns to follow. Each features it's own unique riffs that will please you from beginning to end and have their own extra something's to keep you interested. In the end, MAN THE MACHETES have found a nice blend of Hard Rock and Metalcore and created something new, possibly the future of Punk, but hey that's just me. Check out "Av Nag" and judge for yourself.
