Manegarm - Legions Of The North

Manegarm
Legions Of The North
by Samantha Lynn Ham at 27 June 2013, 7:09 PM

Generally, I am someone who likes to listen to music that I can actually sing along with. But I figured; let's do something new for a change. I decided to listen to MANEGARM's "Legions of the North". All in all, I wasn't disappointed to be honest. I have found I have a newfound respect for Pagan Metal. I mean I know there are some pretty unique genres out there such as pirate metal, but when I heard Viking / Pagan Metal was a real thing, I chuckled a bit. After listening to MANEGARM or even FINNTROLL, I see it's not as ridiculous as I once thought it was.

I love the Folk music behind Erik Grawsjos's voice. That is definitely my kind of thing. Now, Erik has a great voice, very steady and powerful, but personally, I don't enjoy that kind of vocals very much. And it's not him personally. I mean even bands such as CRYPTOPSY who have seriously some of the most, touching, heart tugging themes in some of their songs; I am really turned off by the vocals. They aren't bad by any means; just that kind of singing is for some people but not others. Beyond that, I would purchase "Legion Of The North". I would probably buy it for my husband, but enjoy a listen myself once in a while.
