Mangrove - Endless Skies (CD)

Endless Skies
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 09 September 2009, 2:40 PM

Mangroves are trees and shrubs that grow in saline coastal habitats in the tropics and subtropics - mainly between latitudes 25° N and 25° S. The saline conditions tolerated by various species range from brackish water, through pure seawater (30 to 40 ppt), to water of over twice the salinity of ocean seawater, where the salt has become concentrated by evaporation (up to 90 ppt).

What a better way to describe their music, than borrowing a name straight from mother nature? The Swedish trio unleashes its debut full-length album through the also Swedish Transubstans Records (home for bands like ABRAMIS BRAMA, PONAMERO SUNDOWN and more). Do not ask what music they have chosen to play, I think it is more than obvious if you think about all the clues you have in front of your eyes.

MANGROVE is one more Swedish Stoner Rock/Metal band which is mostly based on this 70's feeling that is surrounding every single song contained in Endless Skies. If you are a fan of bands like TROUBLE, ABRAMIS BRAMA and also like some 70's Rock sound, then MANGROVE is a more than decent band to fulfil your dirty rocking appetite. Mostly mid tempo grooves, with catchy riffs, melodic sing along choruses and a great rhythm section form the MANGROVE puzzle. This is definitely one of the bands that prove the power trio rule.

Swedish Transubstans Records unleashes one more fine album and MANGROVE make their first not so shy steps, since the album is a good sign of what is about to follow by these guys. Check them out.
