MATRICIDE is an Israeli Groove / Nu Metal band and they have released their extended play “We Are Alive” back in 2008, right before their debut album. Please give that EP a visit and see if we missed out on a jewel or just a regular Metal release.
The Nu-Metal influenced here are so very clear after the acoustic part in “Why Am I” comes to an end. The guitar rhythm clearly concentrates on groove and hard hitting breakdowns, especially in the second track “Eyes Corrected” which is a strong mixture of PANTERA and EKTOMORF in terms of song structure and vocals. Actually, the vocals somewhat resemble those of Phil Anselmo (with more needed work of course).
The EP basically continues down this path and releases outburst of strong grooves and breakdowns with accompanied melodies here and there. Not to forget, the drum work is pretty entertaining and very noticeable. And well, nothing else to discuss here.
“We Are Alive” is a very entertaining release by these Israelis, and it’s great to jam to. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it plays its role well and those 20 minutes won’t be wasted on nothing. Check this stuff out!
