It's been more than 25 years that famous producer Mike Varney discovered the talented Finish guitar player Lars Eric Mattson. In this long period of time, Lars released several albums under his name or the name of his band, VISION. Today Mattson runs his own record label, Lion Music and gives birth to his new MATTSON album, Dream Child .
The first thing you will notice when you listen to MATTSON's new album, is the protagonist voice of Adrienn Antal from Hungary. Her voice elevates the album's quality, because she delivers amazing sensual Rock vocals. The fact that she is as much beautiful as her voice is another topic, and doesn't fit to this review's topic which is strictly the musical result.
Dream Child sees Symphonic Metal mixed with Progressive and Gothic elements, spiced up with world music inflections, as the Press Release strongly points out, and that is true. My ears managed to distinguish some Fusion/Jazz bridges in the Progressive side of this album. Still, Lars Eric Mattson is an excellent songwriter and even better guitarist. He also plays keyboards and bass. Mattson also has the useful help from Eddie Sledgehammer (BOOK OF REFLECTIONS) on drums.
The songs that I can mark out from Dream Child are the album's self-titled song, with a strong melodic chorus, and the sensual ballads See The Dreamer Behold - that Adrienn delivers with her flawless singing - and Goodbye, which is a wonderful romantic song with a wonderful classical guitar solo from Lars.
Dream Child delivers a musical result for many tastes for the multi-tasted metalheads of our time. But the thing that you will remember is the name Adrienn Antal. She will manage to move you with her amazing voice, I'm sure.
