I have known this band before it even changes its name to MENCEA. To tell you the truth, I realized that once I listened to songs like Forbidden and The Holy Cast, since they sounded too familiar to me. So that's why I lost that band's tracks back then…
These guys were formerly known as GOJA, but I am not 100% sure if there are differences in the line up. Andy and Nick were in the band, but I am not sure about the others. Anyway, the band has managed to achieve some things other Greek bands - unfortunately - only dream of. MENCEA signed with the Norwegian label Indie Recordings and managed to have the one and only Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, SYL etc.) mix the album and get the album mastered at Sterling Sound Studios.
As the band's bio correctly states, MENCEA stands for groove oriented, intense modern Metal that bends the listener's perception of the various genres of extreme music. The Greek act has managed to create a pretty good mixture of modern extreme music we got to know from bands like LAMB OF GOD and GOJIRA, while adding more classic elements from bands like AT THE GATES. Prapas is a great drummer and he has proven that with his marvelous work in every band he has participated, and he is surely one of the band's integral parts. The dynamic he has added to the band's music is completed by Kostas Alatas, who lays his bass lines upon Nick's insane drumming and lets this incredible rhythm section unfold.
Shredding guitars come to break the last bones that have remained untouched by the band's music and Andy's brutal as fuck vocals come on top to create a massive destruction weapon, which is known to humanity as MENCEA. I guess that this NWOSDM meets Hardcore meets Death Metal will satisfy your extreme 'needs'.
