MirrorBlaze - Triumph Of The Villain

MirrorBlaze
Triumph Of The Villain
by Damian J. Cousins at 21 November 2013, 3:46 PM

Ummm…I don’t even know where to begin with this band MIRRORBLAZE. Their debut album “Triumph of the Villain” is quite frankly an unmitigated disaster. Much like the SEPULTURA train wreck from earlier this year, this thing is produced horribly. This doesn’t even sound like it was recorded in a tin can, it sounds like it was done on a 4-track in some high school kid’s basement. Wherever it was done, equipment upgrades are needed, stat.

As far as the songs go, it is the same thing over and over and over. Calling this Thrash would be an insult to Thrash. Calling it Punk would be an insult to Punk, and I hate Punk. I don’t know what the hell this is, honestly. Their bio says they are all about “Tyranny, Ideological Dispute, Abysm of Politics, Mass Struggle, War and All other Villainy this Degenerate System offers”. Uhhh…ok? And? Do you have solutions in mind, boys? Or are you just railing about?

Look, I give anyone and everyone credit just for getting up on a stage or believing in their dreams enough to commit that music to tape. But this is so unbelievably generic that I can’t even go into a song-by-song review as is my custom. What it really sounds like to me is a couple of kids goofing around in a garage with a tape rolling. The one thing I was happy about was this thing being only seven songs total. So I didn’t waste too much of my life listening to it. Still, the guys in MIRRORBLAZE need to go back to the drawing board, or take lessons, something, anything but what this is.
