It's so damn unfair when I get all the Lifeforce Records releases. You know, all this Metalcore/Melodic Death Metal kind of shit has become really tiring. The fact is that MISERATION are not so bad and I decided to give them a second chance.

The band was formed in 2006 by SCAR SYMMETRY vocalist Christian Alvestam and ESSENCE OF SORROW guitarist Jani Stefanovic. After gathering some more than talented musicians, they signed to Lifeforce to release their debut album Your Demons - Their Angels.

The Swedish metallers unleash an all out attack full of brutality, aggression and a slight dose of melody. I admit that they didn't avoid featuring elements from bands these musicians play in like SCAR SYMMETRY, but they have also managed to mix the classic melodic Death Metal sound with more brutal Death Metal forms, as well as some experimental stuff. For example some parts with clean vocals strongly reminded me of ARCTURUS, but mostly due to the style Alvestam sings, not musically.

Generally MISERATION's sound will remind you of melodic bands like SCAR SYMMETRY (as I mentioned above) and SOILWORK, as well as more Death Metal bands like BLOODBATH, KATAKLYSM and EDGE OF SANITY. I can't say that these guys managed to create something amazing that you haven't heard before, but it is really good for a debut album, especially if you bear in mind the mediocrity this scene is going through.
