Moghul - Dead Empires

Moghul
Dead Empires
by Dead Skin Matt at 18 March 2013, 5:15 PM

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Stoner rockers. Usually you know what you are in store for, and MOGHUL does not disappoint. Two giant tracks, long drawn out vocals and hanging power chords. It's like pizza, even when it's bad, it's good. Whichever member of the band is on drums (I gave up early trying to find out) adds some nice flavor and seems like a fun guy to jam with.

Within the genre of Stoner / Sludge Rock, MOGHUL are not really separating themselves from the pack, but don’t think that was ever a goal for them anyway.  Its not "Jerusalem" by SLEEP (cheap reference, I know. There will never be another Jerusalem). It is a great soundtrack to something Frank Frazetta would have drawn.

If you are a fan of this style of music you will get your money's worth with this EP.  I am a fan.
