Morte Negra - Que A Desgraca Caia Sobre A Humanidade Award winner

Morte Negra
Que A Desgraca Caia Sobre A Humanidade
by Marcos "Big Daddy" Garcia at 19 June 2014, 9:34 PM

Harsh, raw, putrid, misanthropic, but still heavy and morbid. It’s what Brazilian trio MORTE NEGRA (what means “black death”), from São Paulo, is about to play, and “Que a Desgraça Caia Sobre a Humanidade” is a fine Full Length.

They play in a Black Metal way near the SWOBM, focused on raw and “in your face” music, but this very simple way of playing is what turns the album a true pearl, a tasteful work. Great harsh vocals, excellent riffs and good solos (where some melodies appear, showing that their work is not based in rusty formulas), and bass and drums playing pretty simple, but very good. And their music is convincing and full of energy.

Iser took the duties of mixing and mastering the album, making something raw and harsh, but don’t get the wrong idea: the instruments sounds clear, and all musical arrangements are there for all to hear and feel. It’s very good in terms of quality, but has that essential dirty that Black Metal needs.

Their greatest songs: the abrasive “Que a Desgraça Caia Sobre a Humanidade” (great dry guitar riffs pave the way for the vocals), the oppressive “Illuminati” (great and solid rhythmic basis), the darkened and raw “O Despertar” (whereas the vocals shows in a very oppressive form, along with the drums), the nightmare called “… E a Vida se Extingue” (a very charming and darker song, indeed), and the fast and destructive “Taninsan”.

Hear it, and then, buy it. It’s true Brazilian Black Metal!

Oh, by the way, “Que a Desgraça Caia Sobre a Humanidade” means “May the Disgrace falls over the humanity”.
