Mortillery - Origin Of Extinction

Origin Of Extinction
by Michael "MettleAngel" Francisco at 28 February 2013, 3:25 PM

Edmonton Thrash killers sound the death call, on this their outbreak of evil invasive tactics for Napalm Records. This sophomore outing is already showing signs of improvement, as these maniacs from Alberta kick it in old school. Fans of RAZOR, EXCITER, SACRIFICE, and other Canadian speed merchant of venomous influence will find plenty to feed their fire, as those despised by blood armor up with the mortal artillery.

One defining aspect is that MORTILLERY is fronted by queen of mental decay - vocalist Cara McCutchen. She is a hyperactive, wild child; a vicious screaming banshee who channels all her dames of misfortune by recognizing the authority of the late Dawn Crosby of  DETENTE, or heeding the black book written by Ann Boelyn of HELLION. Clearly a path is seen in Death as she echoes Debbi Gunn and SENTNEL BEAST or Nicole Lee Of ZNOWHITE. Fans of Mark Osegueda's sister – Nina – who fronts A SOUND OF THUNDER will also experience a Metal renaissance. I would also reference fellow countrymen and women, EDGE OF ATTACK, as the might of MORTILLERY also includes two damn stressed creature comforts possessing mettle talent. The Heavy Metal maniac Miranda pummels the bass quite passionately.

All the songs are your thrash fodder, riddled with unrelenting aggression, powerful riffing, and a barrage of skankin' crunches, sure to crush any Wehrmacht. “F.O.A.D.” is the stand-out cut, as Cara caresses the mic. With spite, expressing her vitriolic anger for anyone who pissed her off; especially poseurs! Her clean vocals mixed with angry inclinations underline the vehemence and allow for violent restitution. Alex Scott's swift solo serves to keep the new cleave assault ongoing, as Devin Gaudet 's demolition drums bring down the hammer. Here heads will roll, as Hell hath no fury….

Other rippin' cuts I would recommend include “Maniac”, “Cease To Exist”, “Sunday Morning Slasher”, and “Creature Possessor”. Just as ANTHRAX are now wearing their 70s influences on their sleeves, so shall the 80s speed be honored. The deluxe digipack edition will also include three killer thrash covers by the defenders of Dredd: caught in a mosh, as well as ANGEL WITCH, and the sheepish dogged cry of RAZOR. Evil invades and will always remain and this is the “Origin Of Extinction”.
