My Funeral – Funeral Manifest

My Funeral
Funeral Manifest
by Bruno Diniz at 03 January 2023, 5:49 AM

The veteran Finnish quartet formed in 2005 reaches seventeen years on the road and their fourth album entitled Funeral Manifesto, the band has spent the last seven years active with ep's releases and singles, preparing ground for a great job. The label Responsible by the release is the recognized Inverse Records, familiar name for lovers of Finnish underground metal, the production and mixing have no flaws that caught my attention.

Nirvana of Negative” is the shorter of entire work, it’s works all entire around the bass, and bring a very rage and aggressive tone, that can be felt mostly by Ilkka's vocals. "When Darkness Eats" is an amazing track, starts very obscure with its dragged riffs, here the band moves away a little from the trash metal for the first time, showing themselves creative enough to take another path with a lot of quality, this song is gaining and losing speed during its journey, flirting at certain times with progressive Black Metal. “The Uprise" ends well the new production of the Finnish band, at this point the band shows how far can go for choice and the variety that can be brought to listeners, with the addition of clean vocals the band gains elements ala Linkin Park in some parts like “Can’t Bring Me Down” one.

"Suicidal Thrash" like the tittle says it is totally plugged into the veins of trash metal, here it is possible to feel the influence of the band METALLICA in its golden age. Fast and ruthless are the words that can describe this song. If the choice to finish the album was good, the one at first for me was even better, as my beloved hand would say, the first impression is the one that stays, and handpicked "Primitive Evil" is my favorite. “The Night Will Come" it seems that it was made for the stages and should be a very strong song as played live, some higher excerpts referred me to the band SEPULTURA when Max Cavalera where in charge of vocals. "No Regrets" and "Confession" are the other two good songs that complete this solid and recommended work.
