Mysterium - The Glowering Facades Of The Night (CD)

The Glowering Facades Of The Night
by Manolis Moundrianakis at 10 May 2001, 8:58 PM

Mysterium is indeed a mystery band since the promo cd didn't have the slightest info on the band not even the bloody lineup, so i had to search for any info on the web. After some time of searching i managed to find out that these guys are from Germany and that this is their debut album.

'THE GLOWERING FACADES OF THE NIGHT' is lets say a melodic and maybe dark album which combines some of the 'heavy' aggressiveness with the 'lightness' of classical and melancholic music (you know, haggard-like only a bit faster). I couldn't help noticing that these guys have some great ideas concerning their music but they kinda luck originality not meaning that the outcome is not good. The album is filled with an ancient and mystical atmosphere taking the listener to other places and filling him with a variety of emotions. Unfortunately all these feelings don't last for long since the songs tend to have a very sudden end, its like when you're sleeping, having a nice dream and suddenly you hear your mother or whatever screaming that you're late for work or school.

In a few words… 'THE GLOWERING FACADES OF THE NIGHT' is a nice album pleasant to listen at, but im sure though that these guys could have done an even better job if they worked a bit more on their 'originality' as i mentioned before.
