Nachtgeschrei - Aus Schwarzester Nacht Award winner

Nachtgeschrei
Aus Schwarzester Nacht
by Katarzyna Zakolska at 02 May 2013, 1:42 PM

NACHTGESCHREI is Folk Metal band from Frankfurt Am Main in Germany. They have been running since 2006, released their debut “Hoffnungsschimmer” in 2008, “Am Rande Der Welt” in 2009, “Ardeo” in 2010 and their fourth album “Aus Schwärzester Nacht” was just recently delivered

“Sirene”, opening this side show in a Folk Metal fashion, bears amazing melodic singing and quite vigorous music, tight  rhythm section and a sense cheerfulness. I enjoyed the riffing, bagpipes and the hurdy-gurdy that provided additional flavor to the  music. Martin LeMar a fine melodic voice. This guy has been well known as  the frontman of MEKONG DELTA and TOMMOROW'S EVE. “Aus Schwärzester Nacht” serves as his debut with NACHTGESCHREI. “In Die Schwärze Der Nacht” is my first choice out of this album, a beautiful sound of accordion played by Joe, cutting edge riffs and dominant harmonious singing at the chorus. This is an amazing mix of Folk Metal meets traditional sounds. The band also prepared a little surprise for their fans with an orchestra edit of the track. “Na Sdorowje!” is a tick, where accordion played jointly with jovial drumming, grating riffs and the hurdy-gurdy. The fusion of power and happiness reminded me of KORPIKLAANI. “Flamme”, an energetic number, shows heavier Metal while “Die Geister, Die Uns Riefen” sharpened its knife with a blasting chorus and a wonderful Folk consciousness. The softer spots of the song permitted mix great riffs played by Tilman and Sane, perfectly cooperating with the drum and bass of Stefan and Oli, respectively. “ Spieler” has a memorable chorus that will have you sticking around for more. “In Meinen Liedern” took a rather industrialized pattern in the vein of the atmospheric, almost mechanic nature, of OOMPH! Quite a diverse track, yet peppy. “Am Ende Der Zeit” has ELUVEITIE written all over it, yet with a synthesis with the melodic form of NIGHTWISH and the crude singing of OOMPH!. Somehow the German language on display attained a stature of power to the music.

Additional tracks worth listening are “Am Rand Der Welt”, rich with harmonies and pretty soothing, “Unter Deinem Licht” and  “Für Alle Zeit” mixing the nature of Folk Metal with bits of Metal and “Herbst” in an acoustic version where the beauty of singing and fantastic acoustic worked like charm.

NACHTGESCHREI produced an amazing Folk Metal album with a variety of songs. Their music is similar to IN EXTREMO, SUBWAY TO SALLY, ELUVEITIE, OOMPH! or KORPIKLAANI. The whole album ranges almost 70 minutes. I enjoyed the auras, melodies and of course the Folk elements that made this album happen. I'm sure everyone who loves beauty in music and appreciates the true essence of accords on tracks should listen to this album.
