What can I say about this band? Some years ago (more than enough) I came across the song Inhale/Exhale. What an ignorant boy… I didn't know what I was going to face and I impatiently listened to the track. I had never seen or heard anything as powerful as these Swedish perverts! Since then, NASUM were kind enough to take me by the hand and lead me into the world of Grindcore. This song still remains one of my favorite songs from the extreme Metal scene.
I would start by saying what is NASUM and why should you check them out, but if you are into the whole Grind/Death Metal game and you are unaware of this name, better go back to your SPICE GIRLS albums and leave the poor Metal music alone. Anyway, after the tragic event with Talarczyk's passing during the Tsunami disaster, the band decided to split up and preserve what this great musician and the rest of these guys had built all those years.
Even though I am not into the whole live albums thing and I think that they should respect their divorce with the Metal scene and not release anything, they think that a final album would be a good idea. Thus, NASUM offer a brand new live recording which took part in Osaka, Japan, in 2004, when the band played there with NAPALM DEATH, AXCX and PIG DESTROYER. The band is really tearing the stage apart with hymns like Inhale/Exhale, a song that is presented with a totally different dynamic since the studio can't represent the power a band like NASUM has, Scoop, a song which is also featured as a video clip shot by Mitch Harris of NAPALM DEATH, and many other songs that will definitely please even the most exigent fans.
This album was in fact recorded by NASUM's Danish sound engineer Bo Lund in his mini disc and he definitely worked on it to present a kick ass sound quality. Doombringer also features liner notes written by Anders Jakobson. To tell you the truth, I would prefer a DVD release, since I didn't have the chance to see this band performing live and I would really like to see them on stage. Even through a screen! Anyway, that's what I had to say. I don't want to rate this album since as I said above I am not into the whole live recordings thing, but I believe that you will be satisfied while listening to Doombringer. Bring it on!
