Time is the Fire

There are times when you all are full of hearing a Metal genre, due the great explosion you had of it. It comes from the fact that we become bored of hearing the same musical traces time and time again, because there are bands that just copy others, without putting anything different in their work. Thrash Metal is starting to present this feature, because the number of bands throughout the world playing this genre is absurdly vast. But there are times when good albums appear in Thrash Metal, as “Time is the Fire”, fourth album from Finnish quintet NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE.

Playing in a brutal way as SLAYER with that same energy from the 80’s, but with a modern vibe and a very good technical insight, this album shows a band that can do something actual and personalized. Their musical work is created with a bone crushing and hooking energy, with fine musical arrangements. Of course we will find a good and brutal playing on bass guitar and drums, very good guitar riffs and aggressive vocals (using very good tunes), but their songs show very good harmonic structures, and these elements create something different and personal. “Time is the Fire” bears a very good sound quality, aligning the aggressiveness and weight that the band’s music bears, but with that insight that we all need to understand what they are playing. This production fits on their musical work, let me tell you (although some instrumental tunes could be better).

14 Metal torpedoes are presented on “Time is the Fire”. But the very good guitars on “Obey the System” (that show very good melodies, indeed), the 80’s feeling on the harmonies of “In the Dead of the Night”, the excellent melodies and “motoheadian” tempos of “Kuolema”, the sinister tempos of “Knife Against My Throat” (some introspective and melodic moments can be heard, with fine guitars), the melodic outfit used on “Original Sin” (maybe this song is pointing to something they are going to expand on the future, with these fine melodies mixed with a bitter aggressiveness) and on “Ken Tästä Käy”, the fierce vocals on “Welcome to Tomorrow”, and the harsh bonus track, “Blood and Iron”.

Brutal, fast and conceived with fine musical arrangements, “Time is the Fire” is really an amazing album! Thrash on, Napalm Death traders of NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE!
