Nof4 - The Eternal Sleep - DEMO (CD)

The Eternal Sleep - DEMO
by Michael Dalakos at 13 June 2005, 7:19 PM

OK, give me a break! I wanted to write something extra for this cool band but their website is in Italian. Why is that? Do they sing in Italian so that they can aim only at their country's market? Plus their site looks promising enough; double bummer.
The only thing I managed to make out from their site was that the band was formed somewhere around 2002 and they released a full length album back in 2003 entitled Days Of Sorrow. The Eternal Sleep was released in 2004 and is a mini CD (five tracks plus one cover song). A huge thumb up for the band offering everyone the chance to listen to their music since they have both releases in zip files on their site (rock on guys)!
On with the review. The band plays Gothic Rock… OK, some of you might call it Atmospheric Metal. First of all I was impressed by the charismatic vocalist Amerigo. The dude really has warm voice, he really makes it a pleasure to be listening to him. Music wise the CD is not swamped in lame keyboards, while the guitars are the driving force of the band's engine. There is a nice cover version of Sweet Harmony (OK, shoot me, but I can't recall the original performers of this one right now). The production is really smooth, professionally handled and I wonder why the band didn't add 2-3 more songs to make this a full length release.
In conclusion this is a really nice release for the fans of Gothic Rock. I enjoyed it and I don't consider myself to be the biggest follower of the genre.
