Not Above Evil - Psychosis, Rage and Rapture: The Journey Down

Not Above Evil
Psychosis, Rage and Rapture: The Journey Down
by Marcos "The Jungle Guy" Garcia at 30 December 2013, 9:56 PM

A good band, indeed!

This Melodic Death Metal quartet called NOT ABOVE EVIL, coming from United Kingdom, really have a great potential, as we can hear in their new EP, “Psychosis, Rage and Rapture: The Journey Down”.

In their style, they prefer to have a more aggressive and harsh approach, keeping a good technique and melody (especially in the guitars) in a level that some more Brutal Death Metal fans can accept with no problems. And as well, they got some Thrash Metal moments amongst their songs.

The production is good, besides a bit raw and “smoky” (that feeling of smoke above the songs we have sometimes), but without harm their work. It could be better, but as always, I call for your attention: it’s an independent band, so, we must keep in mind that studio costs can be expensive. The artwork is too simple, worked totally on black and white.

Their music is good, but they can do better, it’s clear for us all, but pieces like “From the Otherside” (great guitar riffs and solos), and “Jericho” (a strong bass and drums work we can hear in this one) testify their potential.

In the future, with a good producer and support from a label, they really can go further.
