Paris - Only One Life

Paris
Only One Life
by CJ "Music God" Plain at 08 April 2013, 4:06 PM

I have a select few labels that I always look forward to hearing the releases from. One of those labels is Avenue Of Allies. This time around, they've sent over the new album by the band PARIS named "Only One Life".  The label is always on the top of the game when it comes to fresh, AOR style Rock.

PARIS is a great example of the type of AOR / Stadium Rock that Avenue Of Allies specializes in. There are lots of big harmonies, tasty guitar riffs, and layers upon layers of keyboards on this CD. PARIS is an international affair with main songwriters Frederic Dechavanne and Sebastien Montet hailing from Paris, France. The rest of the band hails from Italy, Sweden, and United Kingdom.

The CD starts off with the song "Dancing On The Edge", a catchy Rock tune with some tasty guitar licks. "What Should We Be Saying" delivers more catchy vocals and keys and almost reminds of early Rick Springfield stuff. The CD is produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, who gives it a nice, even mix and also provides some background vocals.

Robert Sall provides great guitar playing over Dechavanne's vocals on the song "America". It's a punchy, catchy tune that moves at a nice pace.

This CD is full of tunes just like the above mentioned. At times, they can fall a bit into the mundane and "heard it before" meld, yet there's just enough punch here to save it from being a total loss. This may not win any awards for originality or even interest those other than diehard fans of AOR style Hard Rock, but at the end of the day, I think people should give it a chance. Summer is coming up and these are just the kind of tunes that you play in the car with the top down and the radio cranked loud.
