Pat Travers - PT Power Trio 2 (CD)

Pat Travers
PT Power Trio 2
by Panagiotis Koutsompogeras at 10 July 2006, 2:02 AM

There is really no need to introduce Mr. guitar man himself Pat Travers and his band, that's for sure. Here Pat covers his favorites in a Pat Travers way that makes it very hard to not capture your attention. The album overflows with energy and it is obvious that Pat really had a fine time digging back into his past, covering a huge amount of his favorite artists.
The sonic spectrum he chooses to cover together with his band includes bands in the likes of Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie, Johnny Winter, Queen, Deep Purple, Montrose, Grand Funk, Cream, Robin Trower, Trapeze and Bad Company. You will need an extra cool bourbon or a malt whiskey to accompany this CD and to enjoy and dig more into its secrets. The album is mostly based on Blues and Hard Rock. It is quite hard to give all these classics songs a new note of freshness and a new breeze of sonic addition but Pat and his band manage to add some more magic in the music. Actually the songs sound a bit heavier than the originals which make them fit even for a typical metalhead.
The band sounds really fresh and is overwhelmed by the heat and atmosphere of the original tracks. Some people may accuse Pat of not bringing some of his newer compositions and ideas into the light but when they'll listen to some of these covers, they will be persuaded that it was worth doing and releasing them.
It is also a very fine chance and challenge for you - if you haven't listened to the originals in a long time - to get a grip of this album and listen to some new musical proposition for your already established favorites. Actually how long has it been since you listened to some BB King or Led Zeppelin? Huh? So, until the next Pat Travers album, here is your appetizer!
- Album Highlights: You Are The Music, Rock Me Baby, Black Night, Ready For Love and How Many More Times.
